Space To Be Me Support Group

Meets the 3rd Saturday of each month at the Magic City Acceptance & Wellness Center, 11:00 - 12:30.

Space To Be Me is a support group for parents and guardians of transgender youth under the age of 14.  Parents and guardians will be offered a facilitated peer support group focusing on parenting their children.  The discussion will be led by Dr. Lara Embry, a psychologist who specializes in transgender youth.  Issues will facilitate the grouop discussions.

Planned events for the transgender youth under 14 whose parents are attending the support group will occur simultaneously in the same building, at the Magic City Acceptance Center (MCAC).  This support group will offer a space for young transgender kids to be themselves and explore art, music and interactive games.  Transgender children under 14 will be supervised by MCAC staff.

For more information contact Amanda or Kyle.

Gay Dads Support Group

Meets the 2nd Wednesday of every month at BAO, 5:30 - 6:30.

Everyone can use a helping hand and supportive community. Gay dads are no different. It’s no secret that coming out -- to yourself, to your children, to family and to friends -- is daunting and emotionally challenging. But you are not alone. From discussions that outline what to expect in the adoption, foster or surrogacy process, to social gatherings that bring LGBTQ families together, there are resources aplenty at BAO.

No matter where you are on your fatherhood journey, you’re welcome at BAO’s newest support group for gay dads. Join us on the second Wednesday of each month for support you in the path that you believe is right for you. BAO is a safe space for everyone. All discussions at our support group remain confidential.

For more information, contact Gina.
